5G stands for fifth-generation wireless technology. It is the latest in cellular technology succeeding 4G LTE. 5G technology aims to provide faster speeds, lower latency , increased capacity to connect more devices at once and better reliability compared to previous generations.
Minister of IT & Telecom Dr. Umar Saif has unveiled ambitious plans for Pakistani IT exports foreseeing significant growth in the Middle East. Highlighting this expansion memorandums of understanding have been inked with three prominent Qatari companies signaling a promising trajectory for IT exports in the region. Dr. Umar Saif confirmed the imminent launch of 5G by July next year, with proactive measures being taken to allocate the 300 MHz spectrum for its deployment. Addressing the challenges faced by telecommunication companies in the 5G landscape remains a priority , he stressed.
To streamline these efforts a dedicated telecommunication tribunal is slated to be established within three weeks, accompanied by the formation of an action advisory committee exclusively focused on 5G initiatives. Additionally, a consultant will be enlisted to steer the strategic roadmap for 5G implementation, fostering the hope that all telecommunication entities will eagerly acquire the spectrum.
Dr. Umar Saif underscored the imperative of women’s inclusion in decision-making processes, advocating for equal opportunities in the business realm. Recognizing this need, the government has introduced various schemes tailored to empower women.
At a ceremonial gathering, representatives from the World Bank Group illuminated the strides taken to foster an environment conducive to future sustainability, alongside efforts to augment financial support for women in business. Dr. Umar Saif firmly believes that empowering rural women will play a pivotal role in propelling the country towards progressive development.
